Ball Bearings
Did you know that Ball Bearings have been used since the ancient years? It’s no surprise, given how much of an important component Ball Bearings are. They are a crucial part of how we operate and run our machinery. Although modern ball bearings were not noticed until 1794, their need to help reduce rotational friction whilst supporting radial and axial loads were, and still are, a popular need within a multitude of power transmission applications. How do Ball Bearings work?Let’s talk a little about how Ball Bearings work, with the purpose of the ball bearing being to reduce rotational friction and to support radial and axial loads simultaneously, how does that work? They do this using at least two races that contain balls, these two races contain a rotating or oscillating shaft and outer ring with the load being transmitted through the balls. Within most applications, users will find that one race is stationary and the other is attached to the rotating assembly. As one of the bearing races rotates, it subsequently causes the balls to rotate too, because the balls are rolling, the incorporated rolling element guarantees a low coefficient of friction.Like facts? Ball Bearings usually have a lower load capacity due to their size, especially in comparison to other kinds of rolling-element bearings. They have a smaller contact area between the balls and the races. Keep this fact in mind when choosing your ball bearing for your chosen application. Something else to keep in mind when shopping for your Ball Bearing is that for the bearing to operate efficiently or at a high speed, use the right lubrication, especially ones that can work at high temperatures. The correct oil or grease lubricant should be used with each bearing depending on its nominal lifespan and load. Luckily for you, we stock a huge variety of Ball Bearings, we have many different types stocked from global leading brands such as the industry dominator – SKF also our own trusted brand, RS Pro. The range of Ball Bearings you’ll find on our site vary from Deep Groove, Miniature Ball Bearings, Self-Aligning, Thrust and Angular Contact – just to name a few.
